GOLDEN CURRANTRibes aureum
The Golden Currant is a large flowering shrub which is valued for its showy yellow flowers in May and June. Although it produces edible currants, they are never in abundance.
Flowering Shrub: Height to 2.5 m (8 ft.) with loose arching branches.
Foliage: Green, fine textured, typical gooseberry shape.
Flowers: Fragrant tubular bright yellow flowers.
Fruit: Edible black currants.
Fall Colour: Attractive orange scarlet.
