HIGHBUSH CRANBERRY Viburnum trilobum
Also called: AMERICAN HIGH BUSH CRANBERRY
For all season interest, the High Bush Cranberry is hard to beat. It is an exceptional shrub because of its flowers, its fruit, and its brilliant red fall colour. Make your own cranberry sauce or jelly. Very high in Vitamin C.
Shrub: Height 2.5m (6 to 8ft).
Foliage: Course texture leaves have maple leaf shape.
Flowers: Large clusters of white flowers are very showy in late spring.
Fruit: Large clusters of bright red berries persist until the following spring if not harvested. Great for wildlife too!
Fall Colour: Outstanding. Orange to blood red.
Comments: This versatile shrub is worthy of much wider use. It has no bad habits and does not seem to have any insect or disease problems.
