MAACK'S SPINDLETREE    Euonymus maackii

This seldom seen beauty is grown as a large shrub or small tree. The fruit is a unique lantern shaped capsule which ranges from pink to red and persists from mid summer until freeze up.

Small tree: Height 3m (10ft).

Foliage: Fine to medium texture--dark green.

Flowers: Yellowish but not showy.

Fruit: Persistent pink to red capsules that are born in great abundance some years.

Fall Colour: Very showy bright orange. Compares well with the "red" maples.

Comments: Very rare but fully hardy. Truly a conversation piece if planted close to a deck or patio.
